A trope is a figure of speech applied to a word that is used to describe an object or action, which is not literally appropriate. The revelation trope appears over and over again as a repetitive theme in a story, movie, song, or any context. The Revelation trope is apparent in many texts and films for example Foxfire, the Matrix, The Book of Mark, and The Emperor’s New Clothes.
The elements of a revelation trope are the prophet, who is the reveler, a leader, or an activist. The oppressor is the dumb/ignorant masses or the silent majority. There are also obstacles to the revelation, the message, and the promise redemption. So basically in a story these elements would come in order like so: The ignorant/dumb masses are in an unacceptable/oppressive situation when a Prophet/reveler tries to shared the message that connects the dots in a new way and offers a version of a redeemed world but there is opposition to the message/Prophet and drama occurs.
There are four types of revelations: The first type is a flash revelation. The message is revealed and the people who have the revelation experience a “FLASH,” like a sudden awakening. They quickly realize what is going on and understand the message. The second type of revelation is the Puzzle. Just like a puzzle piece fits into the rest of a puzzle, the clues someone finds from a revealed message and puts them together. Once the puzzle is complete they have the complete revelation. The puzzle revelation takes time and patience, along with problem solving because not all puzzle pieces fit where they look like the should go. The third type of revelation is the Sneaking revelation. The message has been addressed and the ignorant masses or individual does not accept the message right away. There is suspicion among the masses and many people will deny the fact that the revealer of the message is in fact correct. The fourth and final type of revelation is the Incremental revelation. Incremental from the word increments is defined as an addition to or increase in the previous amount. This type of revelation is reveled very slowly and is similar to the Puzzle revelation. The message is revealed but the revelation keeps building until complete, this is a gradual process. Different types of revelations have different types of prophets, disciples, antagonists, bystanders and of course different types of prophecies or messages. Prophets can be nasty, show you nothing, rebel, angelic, nurture, demonic, or angel/miracle worker.
Disciple- lost in denial, enthusiastic, smart, or ignorant.
Antagonist- mocking, scared, threatened, judus.
Bystander- can be a principal, a cop, a housewife, or an old lady. Prophecy/Revelation- we are one, we must fight the power, we are asleep, we’re doomed, or you are not your father’s child.
One example of a revelation trope is in the film Foxfire, Legs is new to school and she seems very rebellious and empowering. She is mysterious and every different from the other students. Right away she rebels against the teacher by not listening to his orders and talking back with a negative attitude. Meanwhile the teacher was teasing a girl because she refused to cooperate with the class dissection. As the class watched in amazement, Legs walked over, took the girl’s frog off the table and let it go out the window. That was when the teacher became really upset and yelled at Legs and said she would be going to detention. But she responded by saying: "I don't even go here." And laughs in a careless manner. The students in the classroom realize they do not have to listen to the teacher, they can rebel at will and do whatever they want, and the teacher cannot stop them.
So it is apparent here that Legs, is the Prophet and brings the message to the dumb/ignorant masses, the students, that they do not have to listen to the teacher and to stick together, look out for each other. Although later when this message is being discussed by a few girls and Legs. The girl who is refused to dissect the frog has detention and tells the girls that the teacher sexually harasses her when they are alone. The oppressor, cheerleaders, get involved in the oppressive situation, they disagree with Legs's message, that they should stop the teacher from touching girls inappropriately. They turn down the message and do not care about problem; they try to ignore it, pretending it never happens, to make them selves’ feel better. The obstacle is stopping the teacher from sexually harassing the girl.
Another example of a film with a revelation trope is the Matrix. In the beginning Neo meets Trinity at a club after he follows the clues sent to him on the computer. At the club Trinity warns Neo of the danger to come. Neo was then a little concerned about what is going on. Neo was interested because there was question that had been driving him crazy and he wanted an answer, what is the Matrix?
Throughout the movie that is used repetitively is the trope of birth or rebirth. For example when Neo has the bug inside him, Trinity removes the bug. This is a sign of an abortion. Again in another scene Neo is being reborn, except this time he is born into the real world. Where his is encased in liquid and is connected to a cord that most likely feeds him nutrients to stay alive. He is disconnected from his cord and then is sent down a large tube with more fluid. Neo a then landed in a pool of fluid and a light appears above him and a crane like structure pulls him out of the liquid. Hence Neo is reborn. Later on Neo is told by Morphius what the matrix is and about the current condition of the real world, about the fake life he has been mentally living and how where he is now is the real world. Neo then freaks out because he is in denial. After he accepts the truth, the message, he begins his training because he is believed to be “the one.”
In the French film, Amelie, the revelation trope is shown throughout the whole story. The fist part of revelation- Amelie believes the man in the photo album is a ghost who has been taking his picture around town. One day she meets him face to face and realizes he is a real person and his job is to repair the photo booth. Amilie’s whole theory of this ghost man has changed. She now understands that things in life may not be how they first appear.
The second part of revelation- Nino wants to know whom the mystery man is in the photos and why he takes his picture and then throws them away. When Amelie sends Nino a note telling him to be in the train station and Amelie will reveal herself. Although she plans on having Nino come face to face with the mystery man and then will show herself to Nino. Once Nino sees the red converses from underneath the curtains of the photo booth, he knows the mystery man in all of the photos from the album is standing in there and pulls back the curtains. (camera frame moves in slow motion as the mystery man’s face is revealed) Nino sees his toolbox and the repairman takes his photo and says the machine is fixed. Nino had his revelation and his idea of who this mystery man is was changed. All of his questions were answered.
The third and final part of revelation- Amelie, throughout the film had been helping other people understand and discover missing elements of their lives and making them happy. She had spent all her time spreading a message to other people that she did not follow herself. Until the day The Glass man, a neighbor and developing friend, in her building sent her a video saying they message she needed to hear for herself. The message was about how she needed to stop worrying and helping other people, all she was doing was using other problems to occupy her time so she would not be figuring out her own life. After he said that to her she realized that she needed to do something good for herself, to make herself happy.
So sometimes the “prophet in training,” Amelie or like in the Matrix with Neo, they do not completely understand the message because they are occupied with other obstacles or challenges in their lives. Or for example how Amelie keeps herself occupied by helping others with their love lives or life in general, instead of focusing on her own. Even when she finds herself in situation where she feels a bit of discomfort she will easily back away, physically and mentally, so she is not immersed in something like her own feelings. Which causes the revelation to extent over the entire story line.
In a very interesting and historical text called The Book of Mark (The Gospel of Mark) tells the story of Jesus, from his baptism to his death (crucifixion). Throughout his life, Jesus, heals people and sends (attempts to send) a message to those who need the advice or help. Jesus becomes a healer and helps all the people who are ill or have an evil demon or spirit inside them.
The people are amazed at the power Jesus possesses to heal people and they tend to be the people that listen to the messages Jesus brings. Although many do not understand his messages so Jesus explains them through parables. Parables are simple stories used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. (Jesus uses a parable about a seed)
The revelation starts to occur in the story as the people begin to understand the messages from Jesus and when they learn from his teachings and lessons. To spread his healing powers to more people, Jesus appoints 12 disciples to travel to other cities and towns to help people in need.
The tropes of this revelation: Jesus is the prophet-he brings the message to the people. The dumb/ignorant masses-are the people in need and those who may doubt the power of Jesus and or lessons/teachings. The oppressor(s) is the Pharisees. The Pharisees are a group of people who want to kill Jesus because he broke the traditional rules of Sabbath and healed on the day of rest. Sabbath is a day of rest where people do not harvest or take any thing from the earth. Jesus did not care what day it was he knew that the people needed help and he was the one who could heal this ill person. To Jesus the people were more important than the rules.
Star Wars is another film with a revelation trope. The revelation trope does not always ask politely. In Star Wars many people die because they do not accept the message offered by the prophet. For example Han Solo makes fun of the revelation and ends up dying. So who ever makes fun of or does not agree with the revelation ends up getting killed. Luke is the prophet in training and is very inexperienced in battle. When learning the message he is confused but agrees that he needs the help fight the dark side. When Luke is training with Yoda he rejects the truth at first because he does not believe in the force until he realizes he has the power to make a difference and wants to save the galaxy, has to fight the evil or the dark side.
The revelation trope of Star Wars goes like this: Luke and his family are in a unacceptable/oppressive situation. Obi Won Kenobi tries to share the message that connects the dots in a new way. And offers a vision of a redeemed world. But there is an opposition to the message and drama occurs. Obi Won Kenobi’s message is that Luke is… (Yoda’s message for Luke is: “mystical force, release your mind, let go of your consciousness.” He also warns Luke because “your eyes can decisive you… do not trust them.”)
In Star Wars the hero’s journey archetype is used. The Star Wars revelation trope is basically that horror and or conflict causes the main character (i.e. Neo) Luke to decide to “want to” leave their old world for the new and unknown. Right of passage/hero’s journey- the “call”, the beginning of separation from life as they know it, crossing the abyss into unknown land, overcoming obstacles learning to survive on their own, the return.
The revelation in Star Wars has its similarities and differences with the revelation in the Matrix. For example both revelations show elements of the Hero’s Journey. Both Neo and Luke experience their own journey into the new and revealed worlds.
Neo and Luke first have trouble understanding each of their revelations and in some way experience shock, retreat and anger. That is the first step of their journey, this unknown and unfamiliar world is exposed to them and they do not know how to handle the situation, do they take the opportunity to escape into this new world of knowledge or do they retreat and deny the fact that there is another world unlike the one they live and exist.
a) Legs a rebel, she is also the prophet, and she brings the message to the girl students. And tries to spread the message that they must stick together and support each other to fight. If Legs were compared to Luke in Star Wars she would be a much stronger leader, a good prophet.
b) Legs compared to Neo in the Matrix, she is sure of whom she is and he is unsure, Neo is a prophet in training.
c) The reveler believes that their message they is important so they want to teach it to the ignorant masses, in hopes that their lives will change for the better. The prophet cares about helping people. The reveler does not use an easier method to spread the message because the impact on the ignorant masses must he great so they understand how important and how much change in their lives’ the message can make.
a) Neo is the “one,” computer world ppl Are being killed, has to go through a revelation to understand the truth, life, and how to fight the evil and fake world.
b) Morphius and Legs look different, both outcasts, where black, and seem a little “darker” or “mischevious” and wiser than the other people around them.
c) Authors/film makers make the prophets of revelation empowering, outsiders/mysterious, and they teach others. People are attracted and follow in stories that interest them. Makes it easier for the reader to follow and understand the message because the author gets their point of view across. It is not smart to trust our previous understandings because they are not true or can be misleading. The message clearly points that our and opens the minds’ of the ignorant mass to reveal to them the truth of it all.
a) The Emperor is looking for new Clothes to make him look richer. Two men say they can make him the best clothes ever. The Emperor and everyone are tricked into thinking the Emperor was wearing beautiful clothes and if you could not see them you would be considered dumb. A young boy realized that the Emperor was wearing no clothes b/c he was simply walking around naked, and everyone did not want to say anything for the fear they would be considered dumb.
b) The Emperor and the people of the kingdom are the dumb masses just like the cheerleaders in Foxfire. They do no understand the message when they first hear it and in away they both reject it saying that the reveler is stupid and lying. (Legs and the little boy) The Emperor and his people and the Cheerleaders are all very ignorant.
c) The reveler (the little boy) had difficulties getting his message across to the people because they were too caught up in have a higher status in society. They were blinded by greed and fear of stupidity that they message from the boy was over looked at first. He wanted the people to understand that they were not looking at any expensive clothing only at the nude emperor. He was seeing the truth because he did not care about his status in society; he was not blinded by greed of being looked upon as something great or the fear of being rejected by society.
People fight the revelation and or message because they fare afraid of change. Or maybe they don’t want change because it may lead to the truth of reality or life. Revelations are life changing or they change the way you look at reality. Some people may like they way their life is and the reality they line in, causing them to fight revelation in order to avoid the message. But can people really be satisfied with their lives’? Maybe people are ignorant and do not accept the opinions from others. They do not accept the Prophet and the message he or she brings the ignorant masses. If I had the chance to offer a revelation message it would be: Do not let other people control you, judge you, or make you feel inferior to them. You control your own life and what you want to do.
In all revelations, once the message has been given the ignorant folks have some time to think the message over and decide if they want to believe in the new way to live.
In most revelation stories, the prophet has a close friend. But the close friend ends up betraying the prophet. The betrayer goes along with the revelation and the new way of life of a while but they secretly want out of the truth and the new real world they where brought into. They want to go back to the false or fake world. The truth was too much for them to handle. Then usually want to side with the bad side or the side who fight the revelation. Like Sypher did in The Matrix. He betrayed Neo and the others by siding with the agents, resisting the revelation and killing the others. Or in The Emperor’s New Clothes, the betrayer(s) were the two men who in the end get the Emperor to think they had made him the most extravagant clothing and had set high standards for society. They made everyone around them believe that only people with high status in society were able to see the Emperor’s clothes and to have that sight made them special and more confident. So in turn everything though they had to pretend to see the Emperor’s new clothes in order to not seem like they were outcasts and very low in class rank because they did not poscess the natural ability to see the specially made clothing. These two so called seamstress and clothing makers fooled the entire town including the Emperor into thinking there was actually something special about they way and what the material the clothes were made from. The Emperor thought at first that he must be stupid because he could not see his own clothes on his body. So to prevent everyone from finding out that the Emperor was not able to see his own specially made clothes made him feel like an outcast so he lied to the public. Making everyone think that the Emperor could see his own clothes, while everyone else could not. So one lie led to the next and so on and so forth. When in fact everyone was lying to each other to uphold some sort of value and poise in society because being able to see the Emperor’s new clothes was an honor.

Revelations can be given in different forms. It depends on the situation and the type of prophet that is to give the message to the ignorant folks. One revelation could be given as a sacred version. For example when a prophet gives a revelation his tone and basic “way” of giving the message is gentle and sacred. The prophet is calm and understanding. If the ignorant folk(s) do not understand or need further explanation the prophet willingly re-explains the situation and how they should listen to the message being offered. The prophet does not yell but simply explains how things should work and slowly adding in message to the discussion or lecture. This way the message is not blunt but can be simple and easy to understand. The second form a revelation could be given in is in a too serious or over reacting scene. The prophet is a loud and pushy and tries very hard to get the revelation across even that means scaring and being rude to the ignorant folk(s). The prophet is defiantly the stereotype prophet. The temperamental and overreacting prophet who thinks they are always right. The non-human prophet is crazy wild and really wants people to believe them. This type of prophet is likely to use violence to get what they want. This prophet will teach his/her followers that to get anything done in our world or lifetime we must take evasive action to make a difference.
Although this second type of prophet’s revelation/message is fast and loud, a stereotype revelation this is the type that most people want because there is not much thinking involved. The decisions are mostly made for you because the prophet wants everyone to listen to them as if they were God. This type of revelation/prophet is what most people want but clearly with this type of system there is always room for corruption especially because the revelation/message is given so quickly and immediate. Of course not everyone will agree with the prophet and his/her message. So that is one area that is commonly overlooked. Everyone in the world has their own way to see the world and it just so happens that they obtain the different ways to see and live life differently and this creates conflictions between people. Usually creating two groups those who follow the prophet and his/her message. And the second group is those who felt completely content with the way they were living their lives and going about their everyday. Those people do not handle change every well and usually get really angry and or made. After this division happens the group favoring the old and known life tries to resist the revelation. Ultimately creating more conflicts between characters.

Why didn’t I know?

I would consider my life to be as normal as any other student going to School of the Future. I had just entered high school and was trying to make some new friends. My parents had divorced when I was 2 years old and currently live with my mother and younger brother in Brooklyn. Even though we moved around a lot things seemed pretty easy going, I have had plenty of experience in the friendship department so I figured there would be no problem making befriending a few people. Basically I thought high school would be an okay experience. I mean I anticipated the drama to come and tried to prepare myself for anything. I was just kidding myself no one could prepare themselves for the trouble and drama to come. Friendships would be made and them broken. No one can change or predict the events that will occur in their lives, they can only choose how to react to the present.
During the first year of high school as a freshman I was doing okay. I had good grades and had made some friends. It took time to get used to the “high school” environment and how to act now that I had more responsibilities and, as the work got harder. About half way through the year classes were changed, I was separated and put into a different group of kids I had to get used to this new surrounding I was looking at, these kids where my new class whether I liked it or not. It was extremely different because I did not personally know any of the students and none of them were my friends. I felt distant from everyone and everything I knew.
Until the day I met her. At first I wasn’t sure if she was nice because of her attitude I have witnessed earlier in the year. She was always hyper and laughing continuously. As weeks passed I got to know her better and I realized she was okay and was actually fun hanging out with her. Later we became closer working in groups her and on projects.
Soon we became best friends we hung out everyday. We went to lunch together. We gossiped together and made those trips to the bathroom together. When one of us had to go, the other followed without question. Life seemed pretty good I had a really great friend like I had had before we moved. I finally felt in place and wasn’t worried about what other people thought of me because I knew I had a friend to back me up whenever I needed help and I would do the same for her.
Although later in the year I started noticing how she treated me, especially when I was with her and she saw her other friends walking over. Her attitude changed and she started to ignore me. Each time it got worse. Once when I was talking to her she saw her friends walking toward her and then she completely ignored me and walked away. It was at that point I realized she was not my real friend. She was not nice to me. She used me. She was not my real friend.

Theodore Kaczynski also known as the Unabomber, the “code name” given to him by the FBI formed created from University and Airline Bomber. He was born May 22, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. When Kaczynski was in grade school he was extremely intelligent which made his childhood different from many other children. He took an IQ test that showed his intellectual skills were above others his age, allowing him to skip several grades and take math courses of higher levels. Being exceptionally smart and the youngest of his classmen Kaczynski found it difficult to make friends. He was often a loner or an outcast. Theodore Kaczynski was on his way to becoming a prophet. He later took an interest in mathematics and became a mathematician.
Kaczynski carried out a campaign of 16 homemade bombs, which his high level of education supported. He wanted the attention of ignorant masses because he had very strong beliefs about civilization in America. They were explained in detail in his 3,500 word manifesto typed on a typewriter because he did not like technology. Kaczynski’s message was that “the Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.” He also states that there would soon be a “revolution against technology” in order to obtain freedom in our industrialized system or society. In Kaczynski’s manifesto he defines freedom and explains that it would be very difficult for our industrial system to have complete freedom. We as a society have already gone so far, down this lost path of industrialization that there is very little hope of making a difference. Kaczynski’s rampage of bombings was his way of getting the publics’ attention because of his lack of political power.

Kaczynski wanted the attention of the public to spread his message and inform people about the dangers of technology destroying our freedom. Kaczynski said that The Industrial System has not done a poor job at controlling human beings even though there have been technological advances relating to human behavior. Kaczynski wants humans to have freedom and for human behavior to be understood so it can be controlled. Then he believes that the system will have a chance to survive. Technology in the System=evil, bad for the system and makes it difficult for human behavior to be understood and controlled. Theodore Kaczynski bombed Universities and Airliners to gain the publics’ attention so he was able to spread his message: to warn them about the dangers of industrialization and the systems failure to relate to human behavior even with the advances in technology, which will lead to a break down, ultimate destruction of the system.
Kaczynski believes that within a few decades, for example 40 to 100 years the system will not reform but there is a possibility of a revolution against technology and people will “develop and propagate an ideology that opposes technology.” Kaczynski is very against the idea that our lives’ are run by technology.

They want to go back to the false or fake world. The truth was too much for them to handle. Then usually want to side with the bad side or the side who fight the revelation.

Big Essay
A trope is a figure of speech applied to a word that is used to describe an object or action, which is not literally appropriate. The revelation trope appears over and over again as a repetitive theme in a story, movie, song, or any context. The Revelation trope is apparent in many texts and films for example Foxfire, the Matrix, The Book of Mark, and The Emperor’s New Clothes.
The elements of a revelation trope are the prophet, who is the reveler, a leader, or an activist. The oppressor is the dumb/ignorant masses or the silent majority. There are also obstacles to the revelation, the message, and the promise redemption. So basically in a story these elements would come in order like so: The ignorant/dumb masses are in an unacceptable/oppressive situation when a Prophet/reveler tries to shared the message that connects the dots in a new way and offers a version of a redeemed world but there is opposition to the message/Prophet and drama occurs.
There are four types of revelations: The first type is a flash revelation. The message is revealed and the people who have the revelation experience a “FLASH,” like a sudden awakening. They quickly realize what is going on and understand the message. The second type of revelation is the Puzzle. Just like a puzzle piece fits into the rest of a puzzle, the clues someone finds from a revealed message and puts them together. Once the puzzle is complete they have the complete revelation. The puzzle revelation takes time and patience, along with problem solving because not all puzzle pieces fit where they look like the should go. The third type of revelation is the Sneaking revelation. The message has been addressed and the ignorant masses or individual does not accept the message right away. There is suspicion among the masses and many people will deny the fact that the revealer of the message is in fact correct. The fourth and final type of revelation is the Incremental revelation. Incremental from the word increments is defined as an addition to or increase in the previous amount. This type of revelation is reveled very slowly and is similar to the Puzzle revelation. The message is revealed but the revelation keeps building until complete, this is a gradual process. Different types of revelations have different types of prophets, disciples, antagonists, bystanders and of course different types of prophecies or messages. Prophets can be nasty, show you nothing, rebel, angelic, nurture, demonic, or angel/miracle worker. Disciple- lost in denial, enthusiastic, smart, or ignorant. Antagonist- mocking, scared, threatened, judus. Bystander- can be a principal, a cop, a housewife, or an old lady. Prophecy/Revelation- we are one, we must fight the power, we are asleep, we’re doomed, or you are not your father’s child.

Right away she rebels against the teacher by not listening to his orders and talking back with a negative attitude. Meanwhile the teacher was teasing a girl because she refused to cooperate with the class dissection. As the class watched in amazement, Legs walked over, took the girl’s frog off the table and let it go out the window. That was when the teacher became really upset and yelled at Legs and said she would be going to detention. But she responded by saying: "I don't even go here." And laughs in a careless manner. The students in the classroom realize they do not have to listen to the teacher, they can rebel at will and do whatever they want, and the teacher cannot stop them.
So it is apparent here that Legs, is the Prophet and brings the message to the dumb/ignorant masses, the students, that they do not have to listen to the teacher and to stick together, look out for each other. Although later when this message is being discussed by a few girls and Legs. The girl who is refused to dissect the frog has detention and tells the girls that the teacher sexually harasses her when they are alone. The oppressor, cheerleaders, get involved in the oppressive situation, they disagree with Legs's message, that they should stop the teacher from touching girls inappropriately. They turn down the message and do not care about problem; they try to ignore it, pretending it never happens, to make them selves’ feel better. The obstacle is stopping the teacher from sexually harassing the girl.
Another example of a film with a revelation trope is the Matrix. In the beginning Neo meets Trinity at a club after he follows the clues sent to him on the computer. At the club Trinity warns Neo of the danger to come. Neo was then a little concerned about what is going on. Neo was interested because there was question that had been driving him crazy and he wanted an answer, what is the Matrix?

Again in another scene Neo is being reborn, except this time he is born into the real world. Neo a then landed in a pool of fluid and a light appears above him and a crane like structure pulls him out of the liquid. Hence Neo is reborn. Later on Neo is told by Morphius what the matrix is and about the current condition of the real world, about the fake life he has been mentally living and how where he is now is the real world. Neo then freaks out because he is in denial. After he accepts the truth, the message, he begins his training because he is believed to be “the one.”

The fist part of revelation- Amelie believes the man in the photo album is a ghost who has been taking his picture around town. One day she meets him face to face and realizes he is a real person and his job is to repair the photo booth. Amilie’s whole theory of this ghost man has changed. The second part of revelation- Nino wants to know who the mystery man is in the photos and why he takes his picture and then throws them away. When Amelie sends Nino a note telling him to be in the train station and Amelie will reveal herself. Although she plans on having Nino come face to face with the mystery man and then will show herself to Nino. Once Nino sees the red converses from underneath the curtains of the photo booth, he knows the mystery man in all of the photos from the album is standing in there and pulls back the curtains. (camera frame moves in slow motion as the mystery man’s face is revealed) Nino sees his toolbox and the repairman takes his photo and says the machine is fixed. Nino had his revelation and his idea of who this mystery man is was changed. All of his questions were answered.

She had spent all her time spreading a message to other people that she did not follow herself. Until the day The Glass man, a neighbor and developing friend, in her building sent her a video saying they message she needed to hear for herself. The message was about how she needed to stop worrying and helping other people, all she was doing was using other problems to occupy her time so she would not be figuring out her own life. After he said that to her she realized that she needed to do something good for herself, to make herself happy. So sometimes the “prophet in training,” Amelie or like in the Matrix with Neo, they do not completely understand the message because they are occupied with other obstacles or challenges in their lives. Or for example how Amelie keeps herself occupied by helping others with their love lives or life in general, instead of focusing on her own. Even when she finds herself in situation where she feels a bit of discomfort she will easily back away, physically and mentally, so she is not immersed in something like her own feelings. Which causes the revelation to extent over the entire story line.
In a very interesting and historical text called The Book of Mark (The Gospel of Mark) tells the story of Jesus, from his baptism to his death (crucifixion). Throughout his life, Jesus, heals people and sends (attempts to send) a message to those who need the advice or help. Jesus becomes a healer and helps all the people who are ill or have an evil demon or spirit inside them. The people are amazed at the power Jesus possesses to heal people and they tend to be the people that listen to the messages Jesus brings. Although many do not understand his messages so Jesus explains them through parables. Parables are simple stories used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. (Jesus uses a parable about a seed) The revelation starts to occur in the story as the people begin to understand the messages from Jesus and when they learn from his teachings and lessons. To spread his healing powers to more people, Jesus appoints 12 disciples to travel to other cities and towns to help people in need.

The dumb/ignorant masses-are the people in need and those who may doubt the power of Jesus and or lessons/teachings. The oppressor(s) is the Pharisees. The Pharisees are a group of people who want to kill Jesus because he broke the traditional rules of Sabbath and healed on the day of rest. Sabbath is a day of rest where people do not harvest or take any thing from the earth. Jesus did not care what day it was he knew that the people needed help and he was the one who could heal this ill person. To Jesus the people were more important than the rules.
Star Wars is another film with a revelation trope. The revelation trope does not always ask politely. In Star Wars many people die because they do not accept the message offered by the prophet. For example Han Solo makes fun of the revelation and ends up dying. So who ever makes fun of or does not agree with the revelation ends up getting killed. Luke is the prophet in training and is very inexperienced in battle. When learning the message he is confused but agrees that he needs the help fight the dark side. When Luke is training with Yoda he rejects the truth at first because he does not believe in the force until he realizes he has the power to make a difference and wants to save the galaxy, has to fight the evil or the dark side.
The revelation trope of Star Wars goes like this: Luke and his family are in a unacceptable/oppressive situation. Obi Won Kenobi tries to share the message that connects the dots in a new way. And offers a vision of a redeemed world. But there is an opposition to the message and drama occurs. Right of passage/hero’s journey- the “call”, the beginning of separation from life as they know it, crossing the abyss into unknown land, overcoming obstacles learning to survive on their own, the return.

If Legs were compared to Luke in Star Wars she would be a much stronger leader, a good prophet. b) Legs compared to Neo in the Matrix, she is sure of whom she is and he is unsure, Neo is a prophet in training. c) The reveler believes that their message they is important so they want to teach it to the ignorant masses, in hopes that their lives will change for the better. The prophet cares about helping people. The reveler does not use an easier method to spread the message because the impact on the ignorant masses must he great so they understand how important and how much change in their lives’ the message can make. a) Neo is the “one,” computer world ppl Are being killed, has to go through a revelation to understand the truth, life, and how to fight the evil and fake world. b) Morphius and Legs look different, both outcasts, where black, and seem a little “darker” or “mischevious” and wiser than the other people around them. c) Authors/film makers make the prophets of revelation empowering, outsiders/mysterious, and they teach others. People are attracted and follow in stories that interest them. Makes it easier for the reader to follow and understand the message because the author gets their point of view across. It is not smart to trust our previous understandings because they are not true or can be misleading. The message clearly points that our and opens the minds’ of the ignorant mass to reveal to them the truth of it all.

They were blinded by greed and fear of stupidity that they message from the boy was over looked at first. He wanted the people to understand that they were not looking at any expensive clothing only at the nude emperor. He was seeing the truth because he did not care about his status in society; he was not blinded by greed of being looked upon as something great or the fear of being rejected by society.

Live Prophet: Theodore Kaczynski
Theodore Kaczynski also known as the Unabomber, the “code name” given to him by the FBI formed created from University and Airline Bomber. He was born May 22, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. When Kaczynski was in grade school he was extremely intelligent which made his childhood different from many other children. He took an IQ test that showed his intellectual skills were above others his age, allowing him to skip several grades and take math courses of higher levels. Being exceptionally smart and the youngest of his classmen Kaczynski found it difficult to make friends. He was often a loner or an outcast. Theodore Kaczynski was on his way to becoming a prophet. He later took an interest in mathematics and became a mathematician.
Kaczynski carried out a campaign of 16 homemade bombs, which his high level of education supported. He wanted the attention of ignorant masses because he had very strong beliefs about civilization in America. They were explained in detail in his 3,500 word manifesto typed on a typewriter because he did not like technology. Kaczynski’s arrest in April of 1996 put an end to his bombings and he has been imprisoned ever since with no contact to the outside world. Even though Kaczynski injured many and killed three people he is a living prophet all in his path to get his message out to the people living in civilization but he is a living prophet.
In most revelation stories, a close friend betrays the prophet. The betrayer goes along with the revelation and the new way of life but they secretly want out of the truth and to go back to the false or fake world.

Personal Revelation
I would consider my life to be as normal as any other student going to School of the Future. I had just entered high school and was trying to make some new friends. My parents had divorced when I was 2 years old and currently live with my mother and younger brother in Brooklyn. Even though we moved around a lot things seemed pretty easy going, I have had plenty of experience in the friendship department so I figured there would be no problem making befriending a few people. Basically I thought high school would be an okay experience. I mean I anticipated the drama to come and tried to prepare myself for anything. I was just kidding myself no one could prepare themselves for the trouble and drama to come. Friendships would be made and them broken. No one can change or predict the events that will occur in their lives, they can only choose how to react to the present.
During the first year of high school as a freshman I was doing okay. I had good grades and had made some friends. It took time to get used to the “high school” environment and how to act now that I had more responsibilities and, as the work got harder. About half way through the year classes were changed, I was separated and put into a different group of kids I had to get used to this new surrounding I was looking at, these kids where my new class whether I liked it or not. It was extremely different because I did not personally know any of the students and none of them were my friends. I felt distant from everyone and everything I knew.
Until the day I met her. At first I wasn’t sure if she was nice because of her attitude I have witnessed earlier in the year. She was always hyper and laughing continuously. As weeks passed I got to know her better and I realized she was okay and was actually fun hanging out with her. Later we became closer working in groups her and on projects.
Soon we became best friends we hung out everyday. We went to lunch together. We gossiped together and made those trips to the bathroom together. When one of us had to go, the other followed without question. Life seemed pretty good I had a really great friend like I had had before we moved. I finally felt in place and wasn’t worried about what other people thought of me because I knew I had a friend to back me up whenever I needed help and I would do the same for her.
Although later in the year I started noticing how she treated me, especially when I was with her and she saw her other friends walking over. Her attitude changed and she started to ignore me. Each time it got worse. Once when I was talking to her she saw her friends walking toward her and then she completely ignored me and walked away.
It was at that point i realized she was not my real friend. She was not nice to me. She used me.
